Year 20 (2008-09) Prize Announcement

Because of the unfortunate Round 2 debacle, there are potentially two ways that you can qualify for a prize.

You can earn a prize based on your total score from all 4 rounds as follows:

96-100: Gold
75-95: Silver
60-74: Bronze
40-59: Honorable Mention

If you originally submitted Round 2, you can also earn a prize based on your total score from Rounds 1, 3, and 4, as follows:

72-75: Gold
57-71: Silver
45-56: Bronze
30-44: Honorable Mention

You will earn the higher of the two prizes that you qualify for.

If you go to your scores page, you should see your prize level and the date on which you can select your specific prize(s). These dates are:

Gold: Wednesday, April 22
Silver: Monday, April 27
Bronze: Thursday, April 30
Honorable Mention: Monday, May 4

The above dates are the first date on which you can select prizes, but you don't have to do so on that exact date. The deadline for selecting prizes is June 1. Prizes will be mailed later in June.

Gold winners will get to select 3 prizes, silver and bronze winners will get to select 2 prizes, and honorable mentions will get to select 1 prize. All winners will also receive a USAMTS T-shirt (you will be asked to specify your T-shirt size when you select your prize(s)). All prizes are first come, first served, subject to availability.

We will be offering the following prizes:

  • Mathematica for Students software, generously donated by Wolfram Research.
  • An assortment of books, including the following new prizes this year:
    • The Millennium Problems by Keith Devlin
    • A Mathematical Mosaic by Ravi Vakil
    • Introduction to Number Theory and Inequalities by CJ Bradley
    • A Mathematical Olympiad Primer by Geoff Smith
    • Plane Euclidean Geometry by Gardiner and Bradley
...plus 8 other mathematics books to choose from.

Prizes will be mailed to the address in your profile on the USAMTS website, so verify that your address is correct. We will only mail prizes to US mailing addresses. Also, you must have submitted a current year entry form in order to receive a prize; the "My Profile" page will indicate if you still need to do this.
